Another day in domestic paradise

Hello, Just have a few minutes to myself, now that everyone in the house of majorly more importance than me has finished with it, and left half eaten apples, dirty glasses and todays paper laying next to keyboard waiting for the little pixies to remove it all for them.

Thought it would be very nice of me to invite my Mother around for a barbecue this evening as it was sunny and warm and she has helped out with school runs for me whilst car was being repaired. She arrived, launched herself into seat on patio and there she remained, awaiting her supper. Husband arrived home from work, dropped keys onto table, followed by trousers onto floor, before I hastily informed him my Mother was in the garden and they were equally hastily pulled back on.

Gas barbecue decided to not work on one side, so was very limited on space to cook their minted lamb/sausages etc. Everytime I walked away flames appeared, would have been nice if somebody, anybody, had said "I will help" but no, spent an hour and a half running from patio to hob and back to patio. Finally managed to put my meagre piece of salmon and sweet chilli scallops on once the lions were feeding, but all I could hear was "Oh God, why can't she just have the same as us?" Pinched myself to check I was actually present and I think I was?

Dishwasher loaded, Mother off home, dogs walked around the block, Eastenders to look forward to...........but oh no, daughter needs help with homework and informs me that she needs clean shirt for morning........

Am at this moment being called by husband, who seems to have forgotten how to turn the kettle on............will be back tomorrow with more exciting news.......
